Cityscape Egypt launches their 2022 annual real estate Conference under the theme

This morning marks the launch of Cityscape Egypt’s first conference of the year at the Four Seasons Nile Plaza, under the theme “Egypt: At the Forefront of Change”.

This highly anticipated conference is held under the patronage and support of the Egyptian Ministry of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, with over 300 delegates including government officials, c-levels and real estate specialists aiming to pave the way for high-level discussions about government regulations and policies along with sustainable practices in order to grow the Egyptian real estate market in 2023.

The conference activities began with the opening speech by Teneshia Naidoo, Head of Content at Cityscape, followed by the welcome speech by Eng. Fathallah Fawzy, Chairman of the Cityscape Egypt Conference and MENA Group for Real Estate Development.

The first panel discussion of the morning took place in partnership with supporting partner, Al Masry Al Youm, which included high level panellists such as: Amr El Monayer- Former Egyptian Deputy Minister of Finance and Executive Partner of METEC Consulting, Fakhry El Feky- Head of the Plan and Budget Committee in the Egyptian Parliament and Professor of Economics at Cairo University, Ziad Bahaa El Din, Former Deputy Prime Minister and Lawyer, and Dr. Hazem El-Beblawy, Former Prime Minister of Egypt. The panel was moderated by Abdellatif El Menawy, Managing Director and Editor in Chief of Almasry Alyoum, and Ahmed Shalaby, CEO and Managing Director of Tatweer Misr. Following the panel, an exclusive presentation titled “Egypt’s Lost Treasures – The Redevelopment of State-Owned Assets; Revenue Enhancement and Asset Monetization“ was presented by Mansoor Ahmed, Executive Director – Middle East and Africa at Colliers, official Gold Sponsor of the conference.

Amad Almsaodi, CEO of Aqarmap, then followed with a presentation on ‘Housing market prices and demand trends” which led opened to a panel discussion where Egypt’s Global partnerships and ESG efforts were highlighted. The discussion dealt with the partnerships that focused on helping with the sustainable development of the industry and how to combat the effects of climate change within the region. In participance was Mohamed El Nady, CEO of New City Development, Mohamed Kaoud – Assistant Manager at MENA Hotels and Tourism, Colliers, and Abdel Nasser Taha, CEO of FIABCI Egypt.

Gaby Tayoun, Founder and CEO of Europtima, provided a presentation entitled “Cost Controls and Finance Management”, which was followed by a discussion under the title “The State of Urbanisation: Downtown Cairo and the Importance of Asset Strengthening”. The discussion was led by Mr. Mohamed Galal, Managing Director at Misr Real Estate Assets Management, where he was joined by Karim Shafei, CEO & Chairman of Al-Ismaelia for Real Estate Development, Amr Elhamy, Executive Director of the Egypt Sub-Fund for Tourism, Sovereign Fund of Egypt, and Zeyad El Sayad, Director of ElSayad Associates – Architects & Planners.

The conference’s workshops took place in the afternoon, a new content-led activity introduced this year for the first time at The Cityscape Egypt where two workshops take place simultaneously. The delegates of the conference were able to choose their preferred workshop which was carefully designed in order to provide tangible benefits and practical tools that deliver both value and impact. It is also where the community comes together to learn and develop the right reward strategies.

The first workshops, entitled “The importance of thermal insulation in energy conservation” was giving insight about Mechanisms for applying thermal insulation techniques, The need to activate the thermal insulation code in projects, and Thermal insulation production capacity in Egypt.

The second workshop, held under the title “Smart Cities in Egypt and Sustainability” discussed the topic of sustainability and its role in solving the energy and water crisis. It also explained the costs of achieving project sustainability and the expected revenue, along with the opportunities of turning Egypt into a green country with suggestions that help the country take advantage of all the available resources

Hussein Sayed, Anchor at CNBC Arabia, was the MC for the event. The conference provided an unparalleled platform where developers and real estate experts connect and network while learning about the newest investment opportunities in Egypt. It is a prominent hub for discovering the latest initiatives provided by the Egyptian government, along with insights about the future of the Egyptian economy and the opportunity to connect with the best experts in the real estate industry.
