Juhayna hosts awareness sessions for its employees about Violence Against Women

In line with the UN and National Council of Women’s campaign: “16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence”, Juhanya hosted an awareness session for its employees to ensure a safe future, free of violence against women.

The session was held in partnership with the National Council for Women, through which many pillars were discussed, including the classification of violence against women; physical, psychological, and verbal. It also shed light on the legal penalties for domestic violence, the governmental efforts, and the services provided to support women who have experienced, or are undergoing violence at home, or in the workplace.

Regarding this, Passant Fouad, External Relations Director at Juhayna, stated: “Violence against women is a global phenomenon that is present in all societies. According to a recent study conducted by the World Health Organization, 1 out of every 3 women is subjected to physical violence. This is why Juhayna launched an awareness campaign on its social media platforms, followed by the internal sessions to highlight the importance of standing firm against discrimination, the flawed cultural beliefs, and all violence against women.”

Fouad added: “This session comes in line with Juhayna’s on-going strategy that focuses on women empowerment. In fact, we strongly believe in the importance of raising awareness on topics that contribute to the development of our community, and we aspire to partake in shaping the public awareness, on violence against women, by communicating its destructive ramifications on the females’ well-being, both physically and mentally.”

It is worth mentioning that Juhayna has participated in various initiatives that aim to support women, including being an avid advocate of Baheya Foundation since 2015. Moreover, the company cooperated with Al Nidaa Foundation, along with the United Nations Development Program, to conduct the Kemama Campaign, which supported women in Upper Egypt; and simultaneously curbed the adverse socio-economic impacts of Covid-19.

Throughout this initiative, Juhayna was also able to train 600 women in Qena, in collaboration with the Egyptian Ministry of Health, as the company changed their factory’s main activity of merely producing clothes to manufacturing masks and medical attires.
